My Brass Quartet
"NUEVO AMANECER"

Nuevo Amanecer is Spanish for "New Dawn".

We are a musical ensemble consisting of young musician from the Los Angeles, area.
As the leader of the group, I believe that doing something like this requires just a few guidelines.

1. Play good music.

2. Have fun playing the music.

3. Leave the bad attitudes at home.

We mainly play our music at local churches near Los Angeles, California. We have, in the past, played in many different venues. See our reviews on the Brass Quartet page above.

For more information, email Dan at: mariposapro@yahoo.com

Here they are!!! We were very happy to return to Olvera Street. Thanks, Julie S. This time we had Luke, Celeste, Bruce and yours truly, Dan. We had a great time. We were invited to participate and bring some of our brass music to the "Lighting of the Christmas Tree" at Olvera St. What priviledge! Here are some video clips of the music we provided.

Short Video clip (43 seconds, 10 megs) of "Peces en el Mar / Jingle Bells!"

Short Video clip (1:11 seconds, 19 megs) of "I'll be Home For Christmas"

Short Video clip (40 seconds, 7 megs) of "Hangin' Around at Olvera St."

Check out the pictures.

As you can see, we had a prime spot at Olvera St. We were in front of the "Avila Adobe", The oldest house in Los Angeles, CA.

We also played at a church in Placentia, CA. Thanks Pastor for inviting us to play music at your church.

Short Video clip (1:40 seconds, 13 megs) of "Angeles, We Have Heard on High!"

Enjoy!!

Our brass quartet members are listed below. Feel free to check out their comments and instrument specs.

1st Trumpet and Flugal Horn is Luke Castro

Luke brillantly plays a Calicchio trumpet, like the one below.
It is an Awesome trumpet. This is a professional trumpet.

2nd Trumpet and Flugal Horn is Juliana Frias

Julie plays a Bach Trumpet like the one in the photo below. Are you interested in purchasing a trumpet like this one. Click on the photo or link below for a price on a very nice student model trumpet.

1st Trombone is Celeste Castro

Check out her trombone by clicking on the photo or link below. The "L" says that this model is the "light" weight. It very light and has a great sound. Remember, this is a professional trombone! To purchase one, click below.

Bass Trombone is Dan Castro (Leader of the Quartet).

Dan plays a Reynolds Bass Trombone. I couldn't find a Reynolds Bass Trombone, so here is another one you can check out.

We did it again! We performed a mini-concert at the Victory Outreach in Eagle Rock, CA.
We add a flute player for the first time. She was an instant success and blended so well with the established brass sounds. We started off with "O Sacred Head Now Wounded". Check out our short video clip below.

Short Video clip (39 seconds, 9 megs) of "O Sacred Head Now Wounded"

We played 5 songs. The first song was "O Sacred Head Now Wounded". This song brings out the sacrifice made by Jesus on the Cross for our sins.

The next song was, "When I Survey the Wondrous Cross".

Short Video clip (33 seconds, 8.1 megs) of "When I Survey The Wonderous Cross"

This tune brings out the emotion after Jesus is removed from the cross and the listener is taken to that place and is left to ponder the empty cross in expectation of Jesus resurrection.

Short Video clip (39 seconds, 9 megs) of "I Love You, Lord"

Tune number 3 was, "I Love You, Lord". Our flautist started this song and the keyboard followed. Later the brass instruments harmonized to express the beautiful melody of this song. "Let it be a sweet, sweet sound in Your ear".

After that, we asked all mothers in attendance to stand as we played in honor of all mothers here and afar. We played "Las Mananitas".

Short Video clip (27 seconds, 4.9 megs) of "Las Mananitas"

It brought many tears to the eyes of those who were listening. Yes, it was very emotional... I don't think there was a dry eye in that place. Wow!

We concluded our mini-concert by playing "Glorificad". This is a song for the Christian warrior. The song lyrics talk about how God is in charge of the spiritual battle and we should not be afraid, because His "loving kindness is forever".

Stay tuned for audio and video of the concert.

Date: Sunday, May 14, 2006, Mother's Day at 10am.
